Vol. 197 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rehabilitation of Injured Workers.

28.

asked the Minister for Health if he will consider inaugurating a scheme for the rehabilitation of workers seriously injured during the course of their employment with a view to enabling them to take up some other type of gainful employment.

As the Deputy will be aware, a number of voluntary organisations are already providing facilities for the training of disabled workers for new jobs. I propose in the near future to make Regulations which will enable Health Authorities either themselves to provide training for disabled persons or to assist voluntary organisations which do so and this should result in an expansion of the facilities available for this purpose.
