Vol. 197 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Air Services into Collinstown Airport.

16.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether Aer Lingus have been asked for permission by any other air company to operate services into Collinstown; if so, whether such consent has been given; and whether a reply has yet been given to the American authorities about their request to overfly Shannon and fly into Dublin.

The question of granting permission to air companies to operate new air services to Dublin Airport is a matter for the Irish Government and not for Aer Lingus. There is frequent consultation between the Irish and British aviation authorities about services between the two countries. A request, recently received, for permission for an additional British airline to operate services into Dublin Airport is being considered.

As indicated in my reply to a question by the Deputies on the 19th June last a reply to the US representations was issued as long ago as the 8th January, 1962.
