Further investigations are being carried out into the ways and means of economically extracting coal at the Arigna mines. Following consultations with the mine owners a mining consultant was commissioned by my Department to advise on this matter. The consultant's report has not yet been received. Until these further investigations have been completed no decision can be taken on the erection of a second generating station at Arigna.
Does the Minister think the consultant's report will be available in the near future?
I do not think there will be any great delay.
