Vol. 197 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Report of An Foras Tionscal.

34.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the reasons for the considerable delay between the date on which the Report of An Foras Tionscal for the year ended 31st March 1962 was laid before the Oireachtas and the date on which this Report was available to the public through the Government Publications Sale Office.

The Annual Report of An Foras Tionscal for the year ended 31st March, 1962 was presented in stencilled form to the Oireachtas on 27th June, 1962. I had promised Deputies it would be presented before 30th June, 1962 and the time available between the receipt of the Report from the Board of An Foras Tionscal and that date did not permit of its printing before presentation. It is not the practice to have stencilled copies of such Reports placed on sale and accordingly arrangements were made to have the Report printed before being placed on sale.

The Report was sent for printing early in July and was on sale on 18th October. Having regard to the fact that the holiday period in the printing trade supervened, I am satisfied that the Report was printed and put on sale without undue delay.
