Vol. 197 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Offaly Dispensary Amalgamation.

5.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of a proposal to amalgamate Kinnitty Dispensary District, County Offaly, with adjoining areas, and of the general dissatisfaction among the local people in regard to it; and if he will arrange that his Department will consult the local residents before he gives a decision in the matter.

I am aware that the health authority discussed proposals for the reorganisation of Kinnitty, Kilcormac and Roscrea No. 2 dispensary districts at their meeting of the 15th October, 1962, and decided to defer further consideration of the question for a month to give local representatives an opportunity of considering the matter and sounding public opinion.

I have, however, received no firm proposals from the health authority in the matter and I am not aware of general dissatisfaction among the local people in regard to it.

Should the health authority submit proposals to me for the reorganisation of the dispensary districts, I will, of course, be prepared to consider any representations which I may receive from local residents before reaching a decision in the matter.
