Vol. 197 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment for Reactor Cows.

15.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that in South Kerry some farmers who sold reactor cows at the beginning of 1961 have not yet been paid for them; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I assume that the question relates to the payment of headage grants by my Department on reactor cows sold to licensed canneries or their authorised agents. I am aware of only two cases in which claims by South Kerry farmers for such grants, on a total of three cows, sold at the beginning of 1961 have not yet been paid. These cases were associated with criminal proceedings and consideration of the claims had accordingly to be deferred, but the question of payment is now about to be settled.
