asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if it is the policy of his Department to give preference to men under fifty years for casual employment; if he will state the reason for this policy; and why married men will not get preference.

In accordance with the existing regulations which are laid down by the Minister for Finance men over 50 years are not usually employed if suitable men under that age are available.

Then the old age pension should be given at that age.

The Minister should alter that where married men are concerned. If he applied it to the Front Bench of his Party, he would have——

This regulation has been in existence since the State came into being.
