46.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, with reference to the operations at the Dairy Disposal Company's plant at Lansdowne, Limerick during the period 1st January 1957 to date, he will state for each year of this period (a) the milk intake, (b) the products manufactured and the amount of each, (c) the number of permanent workers employed, and (d) the number of casual workers employed.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 45 and 46 together.

In recent years, the production of dairy products has expanded considerably at the Lansdowne, Limerick, premises of the Condensed Milk Company of Ireland, Ltd., an associate of the Dairy Disposal Co., Ltd. The Company is endeavouring to secure additional outlets for those products and, if it is successful, further expansion can be expected.

As regards the request for particulars of the milk intake and the quantities of products manufactured at these premises it is not the practice to disclose details of the commercial transactions of individual firms.

Information as to the type of products manufactured and the number employed in each year since 1st January, 1957, is in the form of a tabulated statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report.
