Vol. 197 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Reorganisation of Fishing Industry.

67.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will ensure, in any reorganisation of the fishing industry that is contemplated, that (a) plants will be operated only for fish processing, and (b) the letting or sale of plants will be made at a figure not less than the present operating costs incurred by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara, or at the present day costs of replacing such plants.

It is conceivable that plants operated for processing fish when supplies are available could at times engage to advantage in the processing of other foods but, apart from this aspect, the considerations mentioned by the Deputy will be among those to be borne in mind in connection with any offers received for the establishments recently advertised by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara.
