Vol. 198 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Increase in Allocated Pensions.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance if under the proposed Superannuation and Pensions Bill an increase in pension will be allocated to the wife of a person who elected to surrender portion of his pension under section 5 (1) of the Superannuation Act, 1956.

The increase provided in this year's Budget of 6 per cent. in the pensions of civil servants who retired on or after 1 November, 1955, and before 15 December, 1959, will also apply to any pension payable under the Superannuation Act, 1956, to a wife or other dependant of a civil servant who retired before 15 December, 1959.

That means the increase applies if a husband allocates a portion of his pension to his wife?

It does.
