Vol. 199 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Reconstruction Grant.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which (i) application was made for a reconstruction grant by Mrs. Kate McGonagle, Meenadreen, Glencolumcille, County Donegal, (ii) the work was inspected, and (iii) payment of the grant will be made.

Application for a grant in this case was made in March, 1958. In June, 1958, the Donegal County Council informed the applicant that they were not prepared to certify the house as being suitable for repair and improvement and the applicant was informed of the right of appeal to the Minister. No such appeal was made, and the case remained dormant until September, 1961, when an application was received in the Department from a person of the same surname and address. At this stage it was assumed that both applications were in respect of the same house. The matter has now been clarified and a certificate of approval to a grant of £80 has been issued to the original applicant. Arrangements are being made for an early inspection.
