Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Carlow Estate.

38.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Lands if he will state, in regard to 476 acres of the Oak Park Estate, County Carlow not yet allotted, how much is to be allotted to local small farmers.

39.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Lands if he will state, in regard to the 1,087 acres of the Oak Park Estate, County Carlow which have been allotted, how much has been allotted to the Agricultural Institute; and how much is to be made available to local small farmers.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 38 and 39 together.

The total area allotted to the Agricultural Institute was 870 statute acres. This included Oakpark House with a substantial area of woodland, lake, islands etc. and some 570 statute acres of farmland.

The position regarding the local small farmers is that their claims are pending for decision in connection with the allocation of the area of 476 acres on hands. Until the allocation is decided, it is not feasible to say how much will be allotted to any category of allottees.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary in a position to make an announcement as to when a decision will be made?

I gave all that information in answer to a question put down by Deputy Norton two weeks ago.
