Vol. 200 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 6, 7, 4, 8 and 9; Private Members' Business from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

Could the Taoiseach say when we are likely to receive the Book of Estimates and when we are likely to start on the Vote on Account?

The Estimates will be posted out on Friday afternoon and will be available on Saturday morning. The Vote on Account will be taken, possibly, next Wednesday.

In view of the many newspaper forecasts, could the Minister for Finance say whether he has yet made up his mind as to whether he will introduce the Budget before or after the Easter Recess?

After Easter, I am afraid.

After Easter?

I think so.

With regard to motion No. 13 on the Order Paper, is the amendment to be taken? It is still on the Order Paper.

It was not moved.

Can it be moved at any time?

Surely the Deputy can move it during the course of the discussion?

No. That might mean that a Deputy who had already spoken would claim the right to speak at any time.

So does a seconder of a motion claim the right to speak.

It is provided for in Standing Orders——

Why is it still on the Order Paper?

Although it is on the Order Paper, that does not give authority for it to be spoken to and moved.

It is a mistake to have it on the Order Paper?

No; it was submitted to the motion.

The Ceann Comhairle ruled that it had fallen last week.

Still it is on the Order Paper.

That does not matter.

May I call your attention to the Dáil Report for last Thursday, on which day the House voted on certain motions and amendments? As printed, it does not seem to be in accordance with the facts. Would you, therefore, Sir, kindly peruse the document with a view to making the necessary adjustments so as to give the report the necessary accuracy?

I am advised that it was a printing error.

I am not concerned as to who caused the error. All I am concerned with is that history will be able to read the truth.

It will be corrected in the bound volume.

That is asking too much of history.

It is a pity the error occurred at all, of course.
