Vol. 200 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public House Hygiene Regulations.

8.

asked the Minister for Health the normal hygiene regulations at present in force with regard to public houses; and what additional regulations apply if such establishments serve light meals, such as hot soup, or cooked chicken.

There are no requirements in the Food Hygiene Regulations relating specifically to licensed premises. Article 25 of the Regulations sets out the provisions to be complied with by food premises generally in respect of structural conditions, equipment and operational hygiene, and as I mentioned in reply to the Deputy's question on 14th instant the detailed applications of these provisions is a matter for local health authorities.

Where the business carried on in a licensed premises is such as to constitute a restaurant business, the premises must be registered with the local health authority under Part IV of the Regulations.
