Vol. 200 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Feale Drainage: Damage to Kerry Turbary.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance when compensation will be paid to the landowners at Coolrovane, Lixnaw, County Kerry for damage caused to their turbary during the course of operations on the Feale Drainage Scheme; and if, in view of the fact that these people have been waiting for payment for the past five years, he will make a statement on this matter.

Thirteen plots of bog land varying in size from 8 perches to 7 acres are being acquired. Negotiations on price were protracted but agreement and investigation of title has now been concluded in eleven cases and payments will be made when the legal details are completed in about a month. In another case, agreement on price has been reached and evidence of title is awaited from the owner. It has not been possible to reach agreement in the remaining case and how best to bring it to conclusion is being considered.
