Vol. 203 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exports of Sugar.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether his attention has been drawn to the statement by the General Manager of the Irish Sugar Company with regard to the desirability of preventing undue export of sugar and smuggling of sugar from this country in present world price conditions; and whether, with a view to preventing a rise in the price of sugar to the consumer in this country, he intends to take any steps along the lines suggested.

I am aware of the statement referred to. The necessary steps to deal with the situation have already been taken in consultation with the sugar company.
