Vol. 203 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Roscommon Compulsory Purchase Order.

49.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received for confirmation a compulsory purchase order made under the Labourers Acts by the Roscommon County Council on the 24th January, 1963; and, if so, when he proposes to confirm it.

A compulsory purchase order relating to the acquisition of sites for labourers' cottages was received in my Department from Roscommon County Council on 25th January, 1963. Examination of the order and inspection of the sites proposed to be acquired are proceeding in the normal way and I will not be in a position to make a decision on the order until these have been completed.

Could the Minister give an estimate of how long the procedure in connection with such an order is likely to take? Would it be three months, six months, nine months?

It is impossible to generalise because of the different circumstances arising in respect of any given CPO. In this case—it does not appear to be a very difficult one—we may have a result and a decision within a couple of months.
