Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bishopstown (Cork) Sewerage Connections.

52.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received representations from the Bishopstown Development Association, Cork, relative to house connections with a new main sewer in the area, in the course of which the Association objected to the requirements of the Cork County Council that householders should completely indemnify the Council from and against all actions, costs, claims, and damages and demands in connection with the work; if he has caused an inquiry to be made into the matter, and particularly into the Association's offers to share the cost of insurance in this regard rateably with the central and local government authorities; and, if so, if he will state the outcome of such inquiry.

Representations have been made to me regarding this proposal. The conditions stipulated by Cork County Council for undertaking the connection of the premises to the sewer at Bishopstown are a matter for the Council and it would not be proper for me to intervene. I have informed the Bishopstown Development Association accordingly.
