Vol. 203 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Phoenix Park Water Supply.

9.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the improvement of the water supply to the Phoenix Park, Dublin at a total estimated cost of £30,000.

The existing water supply system in the Phoenix Park is inadequate for present day requirements. Most of the pipework is badly corroded as a result of age and the pressure, particularly in the northern part of the Park, is poor and well below the standard required for fire-fighting purposes. The works proposed include:—

(a) the laying of a new 8 inch main along the central road, and the making of new connections to Aras an Uachtaráin, the Apostolic Nunciature, the School of Civil Defence, the Ordnance Survey Office, and the Phoenix Park National School,

(b) the provision of a ring main, etc., at the Garda Depot, and

(c) the provision of a connection from the North County Dublin main to serve the houses, etc., in the north western area of the Park.
