Vol. 203 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Botanic Gardens Fern House.

14.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will explain the purpose of the proposed new Fern House at the Botanic Gardens, Dublin, at a total estimated cost of £10,000; and for what purpose it is required.

The new Fern House is required for the very valuable collection of tropical and temperate climate ferns, in replacement of the original house dating from about 1886, which had to be demolished because of structural deterioration. The fern collection is used for horticultural education purposes.
