asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of wireless licences taken out on the latest date for which figures are available.

With your permission a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 67 and 68 together.

The number of combined television and radio licences current on 30th April last, the latest date for which figures are available was 158,108. The number of radio licences current on the same date was 357,873.

Would the Minister indicate if there has been a drop in the number of radio licences in the past few years?

There is a drop. According as the number of combined licences increases, there is a drop in the number of radio licences but I have not got the figures here.
