Vol. 203 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin-Bray Telephone Service.

72.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why a telephone call made to a subscriber in Bray, County Wicklow by a Dublin city subscriber via the operator on 5th June, 1963 at 11.7 a.m. was not put through before 12.43 p.m., although the caller in question succeeded in making two calls direct to the same Bray subscriber at 11.50 a.m. and 11.55 a.m. respectively.

In the absence of detailed particulars it is not possible to give the information asked for.

73.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why several callers in the Dublin area who attempted to telephone direct to subscribers in Bray, County Wicklow, on the morning of 5th June, 1963 were unable to do so.

The difficulty experienced by Dublin callers attempting to dial Bray numbers on the date in question was caused by congestion on the trunk lines arising from abnormally heavy traffic.

Additional trunk lines are being provided on the route and will be in operation within the next few weeks.

74.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephone lines between Dublin city and Bray, County Wicklow.

The number of lines is 94.
