Vol. 203 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pupils available for Secondary or Vocational Schools.

89.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Education the estimated number of areas in which there are more than 150 pupils available who are not at present in attendance at secondary or vocational schools.

This is one of the matters which will be covered by the detailed surveys to which I referred in my replies in the House on the 28th May.

What is the reason for the expedition of the scheme in advance of the survey?

It has nothing to do with the survey. The figure of 150 is based on the minimum number of students required so as to warrant a staff large enough to give a wide curriculum. The number of pupils is related to the staff and the curriculum rather than to the survey.
