asked the Minister for Education if he will give a list of the countries from which delegates attended the recent meeting of the Directorate for Scientific Affairs of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development held in Dublin; whether this meeting included a study of the progress of the OECD educational survey at present being carried out in this country; and, if so, what conclusions were reached by the meeting.

The following countries were represented at the recent meeting in Dublin of the Educational Investment and Planning Committee of the Directorate for Scientific Affairs of the OECD:

Belgium, Denmark, France, Federal German Republic, Greece, Iceland. Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The Irish study, which is now in the nature of a pilot study for the other countries involved, was among the items on the agenda. The work to date on the Irish study was discussed and the delegates expressed themselves as fully satisfied with the approach to the project, the methods employed and progress achieved to date.
