Vol. 203 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - UCD Pre-Dental Classes.

91.

asked the Minister for Education whether, subsequent to the announcement by University College Dublin that there would be no pre-dental class in the College during the 1963-64 session, he has had any discussion with the College authorities with regard to the resumption of pre-dental classes at a later date; and, if so, whether any decision has yet been reached as to the future of pre-dental and dental classes at the College.

I have been engaged in consultation with all the interested parties within and outside the country on the question of dental teaching here. As those consultations have not concluded I do not feel that the public good would be served by making any statement in regard to them at the present time. I would like to say, however, that I have every reason to believe that the future arrangements for dental teaching here will be such as to satisfy the requirements of the General Dental Council.
