asked the Minister for Local Government the total road grants allocated to County Kildare and County Westmeath in each of the years 1962-63 and 1963-64, giving the various headings under which the grants are allocated, and the amount of increase or decrease under each heading.

Road Fund grants to county councils are allocated on a county basis only. The 1962/63 and 1963/64 allocations to Kildare and

Westmeath County Councils are given below.

NOTE 1: The Main Road Upkeep Grant figures for 1963-64 are estimates.

NOTE 2: The Main and County Road Improvement Grants shown for 1962-63 are the original allocations. Kildare County Council opted to transfer £32,500 of their County Road Improvement Grant to Main Road Improvement, while Westmeath County Council transferred £3,300 of their Main Road Improvement Grant to County Roads, giving the following revised grants for that year:
