asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in regard to County Mayo for each of the five years ended 31st March, 1963 (a) the total mileage of county roads rolled and tarred, and (b) the total outlay on such work; and the average cost per mile for such work in 1959-60 and 1962-63.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in connection with County Mayo for each of the five years ended 31st March, 1963, (a) the total mileage of main roads rolled and tarred, and (b) the total outlay on such work; and the average cost per mile for such work in 1959-60 and in 1962-63.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 38 and 39 together and to circulate the information, which is in the form of a tabular statement, with the Official Report. The details required are not yet available in respect of the year 1962-63. The figures given show the mileage of main and county roads, respectively, the improvement of which was undertaken and completed in the financial year indicated in each case, and the corresponding cost, as well as the average cost for 1959-60. Schemes spread over more than one year are excluded from the calculations.
