Vol. 204 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killorglin (Kerry) Housing.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if any proposals have been received by him from the Kerry County Council for the erection of a group of houses on the former railway grounds in Killorglin; and how many it is intended to build there.

No such proposals have been received.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department have yet approved of the type of house to be built at Stealroe, Killorglin by the Kerry County Council; the number to be erected on the site; and when a start will be made.

Plans for six houses at Stealroe, Killorglin, were approved on the 6th ultimo, subject to consideration of a minor technical amendment. The Council may now prepare contract documents for this scheme.

I have suggested that the Council might consider increasing the number of houses proposed for this site which, I am advised, could accommodate up to 12 two-storey houses, so as to reduce the cost per house of acquisition and clearance of the site.

I am not in a position to say when work will commence.
