Vol. 204 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Forestry Workers.

33.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the planting of the Glencar Forest, County Kerry, where there are 25 workers employed, is coming to a close; and if the Land Commission will consider the propriety of purchasing adjacent holdings offered to it in order to keep the present workers employed.

I am aware that the reserve of plantable land in the hands of the Forestry Division of my Department in the Glencar area is being rapidly exhausted. The Forestry Division is endeavouring to acquire further land in the district but the acreage of plantable land on offer to it is small.
