Vol. 204 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Electricity Supplies.

9.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that a number of persons in Kilnagospagh, Coolbane and Mileennahorna, County Cork are waiting for ESB connection; and if he will arrange to have the matter expedited.

10.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when it is hoped to provide electricity for the Slievereagh, Dernasaggart and Derreenaling areas near Ballyvourney, County Cork.

11.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will indicate the areas which the ESB intend to review for further additional development in the South-West Cork constituency in the present year and in 1964.

With the permission of An Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 9, 10 and 11 together.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that all rural areas in County Cork have already been developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme, with the exception of Dunbeacon, where work is at present in progress, and Doonpeter, where work is about to commence.

As I have indicated in reply to previous questions, the Electricity Supply Board, following the increase in the subsidy for rural electrification, are arranging to re-canvass all rural areas, and any householders who did not accept supply on the occasion of the initial development of their areas will be given a further opportunity to do so.

The board are unable to state an order of priority for the re-canvass of individual areas. Interested persons should get in touch with the appropriate district office of the board, which, in the case of South-West Cork, is at 113 Patrick Street, Cork.
