As nurses' salary scales are graded and as there is a considerable number of gradings, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate particulars of the salary scales with the Official Report.
Following is the information required:—
1. Trainee Psychiatric Nurses:
Male: £435—£455 (three annual increments of £6, £7 and £7).
Female: £400—£415 (three annual increments of £5).
2. Psychiatric Nurses:
Male: £505—£620 (six annual increments of £15 followed by an increment of £15 after another four years and an increment of £10 after a further four years).
Female: £450—£560 (six annual increments of £15 followed by two increments of £10 at four yearly intervals).
3. Deputy Charge Nurses (Male) and Deputy Ward Sisters:
£50 per annum extra on Psychiatric Nurses' scales.
4. Charge Nurses (Male) and Ward Sisters:
£75 per annum extra on Psychiatric Nurses' scales.
5. General Trained Nurses (Female):
(a) without mental nursing qualification:
£465—£495 (two annual increments of £15).
(b) with mental nursing qualification:
£535—£625 (six annual increments of £15).
6. Infirmary Nurses (Theatre Sisters) with dual nursing qualifications:
£625—£700 (five annual increments of £15).
This scale is personal to the present holders of these posts.
7. A male Psychiatric Nurse who has registered as a general trained nurse is paid an allowance of £25 per annum in addition to his salary as Psychiatric Nurse.
