Vol. 204 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Pension Increases.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in the adjustment and payment of pensions, which were provided for in the 1962 Budget, to retired members of local authorities of Dublin city and county, and particularly of Grangegorman Mental Hospital Board.

23.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government why some Dublin Corporation pensioners, who were awarded increases as of August, 1962, have not received such increases; and when they will be paid to them.

24.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that some Dublin Health Authority pensioners have not yet received the pension increases awarded to them last year; if he will state the reason for the delay; and when payment may be expected.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 22, 23 and 24 together.

The payment of increases in pensions within the limits notified to local authorities last December is a matter for each local authority. I understand, however, from the Dublin Corporation and the Dublin Health Authority that all pensioners who qualified for the increases have been paid in full or have been granted interim payments and that all pensioners of the former Grangegorman Mental Hospital Board who qualified have been paid in full. I am informed that the Dún Laoghaire Corporation pensioners who qualified have been paid in full and that the Dublin County Council pensioners who qualified will be paid shortly.
