Vol. 204 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Traffic Control in Dublin.

29.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the growing volume of motor traffic passing at night through Dublin city centre, with consequent danger and inconvenience to pedestrians, he will extend the hours of the present traffic control duty of the Gardaí.

While the Gardaí are keeping the arrangements for manual control of traffic in Dublin under constant review, their considered opinion is that, at the moment, the volume of traffic after 7 p.m. is not sufficient to justify such control save on the days when large crowds attending special events are likely to be dispersing en masse after that hour. On these latter occasions, special arrangements are made.
