Vol. 205 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Import of Motor Components and Accessories.

27.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will amend the present regulations relating to importation of motor components and accessories so as to facilitate owners of duty-paid vehicles, owned, registered and based in Northern Ireland, who do not have the same privilege as owners of temporarily imported vehicles should an accident happen while the vehicles are in the Republic.

I have had this matter reviewed and as a result a concession will shortly be introduced whereby parts may be admitted free of duty for the repair here, in case of accident or breakdown, of duty-paid vehicles, owned and registered outside the State but which are eligible to enter the State on a temporary basis only. I think this concession will accord the facilities sought by the Deputy.
