Vol. 205 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of Reactor Cow.

49.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that Mr. Seán Daly, UDC, Youghal, County Cork, has a cow that reacted early in May last; and that, though his veterinary surgeon notified the Cork office and he himself wrote to them on four occasions, he has not received a reply; and whether, in view of the difficulty in keeping the animal isolated and the danger of further spread of the disease through the herd owing to the delay in its removal, he will have the matter dealt with without delay.

This herd owner wrote on 6th August last requesting the local office to arrange a visit at their convenience to purchase the reactor. A valuer visited the herd owner on 4th September when the reactor was purchased. The animal was removed on 17th September.
