Vol. 205 No. 1

Written Answers. - TB Bed Per Death Ratio.

178.

asked the Minister for Health the TB bed per death ratio in each of the years 1922, 1932, 1942 and 1962.

Adequate information is not readily available regarding the accommodation provided in 1922 for tuberculosis patients to permit the calculation of the beds per death ratio for that year. The ratios for the remaining years are calculated on the number of beds estimated to have been available for tuberculosis patients.

The ratios are as follows:

1932

0.86

beds per death

1942

0.64

,,,,,,

1962

6.92

,,,,,,

The figures shown above in respect of 1962 do not take account of beds which had been used for TB purposes but which it had become possible to divert to other purposes.
