Vol. 205 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Import Licences.

11.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a licence has been issued to import wheat; and, if so, if he will state to whom licences have been issued, the amount paid for such wheat, and where it was purchased.

Apart from licences to import seed wheat, licences to import wheat for milling are issued periodically to registered wheat importers in accordance with requirements. The Deputy's question does not indicate what period he has in mind. Since 1st September, 1963, licences to import wheat for milling have been issued to a number of firms, a list of which I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.

The countries of origin of the wheat concerned are Australia, Canada, USA, England and France. It is not the practice to require importers to state the prices paid.

List of Firms to Which Licences to Import Wheat for Milling have been issued since 1st September, 1963.
