Vol. 205 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - “Legal Diary.”

28.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the Legal Diary for 30th October last was not delivered to solicitors and barristers on the morning of that day with resultant loss, confusion and delay; and if he will now have effective steps taken to prevent the frequent non-delivery of the Diary or to indemnify the legal profession against loss occasioned by non-delivery.

I am not aware of the allegation referred to in the first part of the question.

As indicated in reply to a somewhat similar question by the Deputy last Thursday, I consider that occurrences of this nature are matters which the individual subscribers might raise with the publishers either direct or through one of the professional bodies which are concerned in the arrangements relating to the Legal Diary.

On 19th June last, I told the Deputy, in reply to a question, that I was unaware of any case in which a loss arose by reason of delay in delivery of the Legal Diary. This is still the position.
