Vol. 205 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Burtonport (Donegal) Harbour.

25.

andMr. Breslin asked the Minister for Lands if it is proposed to carry out extensions to the pier and harbour at Burtonport, County Donegal, including the dredging and blasting of rock in the main channel entrance, and the erection of navigation lights on the perch south of Rutland Island; and, if so, when.

Proposals of the nature referred to are under consideration but further engineering reports are required from the Office of Public Works before decisions can be taken whether or not to proceed with the works. In the case of the proposed harbour works a preliminary boring survey, estimated to cost £1,000, is necessary and a State grant of half that cost was offered on 26th September, 1963, to the Donegal County Council whose acceptance is awaited.
