Vol. 205 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Map and Street Index.

5.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance the date of publication of the Map of Dublin and Index to Streets, and the number of copies issued at the time of publication and since.

6.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance why booksellers are experiencing delays on the part of the Ordnance Survey Office in filling orders for the Map of Dublin and Index to Streets; and why the publication in question was advertised for sale without having ample supplies of it available to meet the demand.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to answer Questions Nos. 5 and 6 together.

The Director of Ordnance Survey informs me that publication of the latest Map of Dublin and Index to Streets was announced on the 3rd September, 1963.

The Director has not received complaints of delay from booksellers in filling orders for the new publication. All orders have in fact been met in a matter of days but some of the larger orders were dispatched in more than one delivery.

Maps are normally issued on receipt of orders. In this case some 7,000 copies were printed, of which 4,261 have been issued to date.
