Vol. 205 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Ramelton (Donegal) Dispensary Appointment.

7.

asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to appoint a permanent dispensary doctor to the Ramelton dispensary district, County Donegal; and if he will explain the unreasonable delay in having this appointment made.

The Local Appointments Commissioners have been requested to recommend a candidate to the Donegal County Council for appointment to the post of district medical officer, Ramelton. It is understood that interviews were recently held for the selection of candidates for this and other similar posts and that a recommendation will be made to the Donegal County Council in the near future if a suitable candidate is available for the Ramelton vacancy.

With regard to the delay in the filling of the permanent post, I informed the Deputy on 31st October, 1962, in reply to a previous question on this matter, that a proposal of the local authority to amalgamate the Ramelton and Rathmullan dispensary districts was under consideration. It was subsequently decided that amalgamation should not be proceeded with.
