Vol. 206 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports and Exports.

2.

asked the Taoiseach the description and value of imports to Ireland from 1st January 1963 to the nearest available date from each of the following countries: France, Federal Germany, East Germany, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, China, USSR, Japan and India; and if he will state in the case of each of these countries the description and value of exports from the Republic of Ireland for the same period.

The booklet Trade Statistics of Ireland, September, 1963, which contains the latest available information on imports and exports will be published tomorrow. It will give particulars of the aggregate imports from, and exports to, all the countries mentioned for the period January-September, 1963. It will also give for January-September, in Tables XIV and XVI, certain information as to the composition of our imports from and exports to countries with which our trade is reasonably substantial. These tables cover most of the countries mentioned in the question. To extract in detail all the information for which the Deputy asks would involve an expenditure of effort which, in my view, would not be justified.
