Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state, with reference to a reply of 24th April last that a postman was awaiting trial in connection with charges of theft from the post, the outcome of the trial.

The postman was convicted on ten charges of stealing postal packets including one for the address supplied with the Deputy's questions of 24th April last. A concurrent sentence of six months imprisonment was imposed in respect of each charge, the sentence being suspended on his entering into a Bond in the sum of £50 to keep the peace for two years. He was dismissed from the service.
