Vol. 206 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Initial Salaries of Secondary Teachers.

34.

asked the Minister for Education what is the initial salary to honours graduates beginning as secondary teachers who have not the Higher Diploma in Education; and if he can give approximate figures for similar cases in Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

In order to be eligible for payment of salary from my Department a secondary teacher who is a graduate must in addition hold the Higher Diploma in Education. In relation to the information being sought in this and other questions regarding the position in Great Britain and Northern Ireland the Deputy should apply to the appropriate Ministry in these areas for the information which he is seeking.
