Vol. 206 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fire Damage to Factories.

40.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what factories erected during the last ten years with the aid of State funds were damaged extensively by fire; and if as a result any recoupment was made for the loss; and if any of these factories stopped production as a result of being so damaged.

There are only two cases of which I am aware. The factories of the Sligo Spinning Company Limited and Cortex Proofers Ltd were extensively damaged by fire. In one case the factory was rebuilt by the owners. In the second case, negotiations are proceeding for the utilisation of the premises for a new industry in the textile field. No question of recoupment arises.
