Vol. 206 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Achill (Mayo) Ambulance.

11.

asked the Minister for Health if he will take steps to have an ambulance stationed at Achill Sound, County Mayo to provide facilities for the dense population of the Achill-Mulrany-Ballycroy area.

I have made inquiries regarding the ambulance services for the Achill-Mulrany-Ballycroy area and I have been informed that these districts are serviced at the moment by ambulances stationed in Castlebar. No complaints regarding the inadequacy of this service have been received in my Department or by Mayo County Council. However, in view of the remoteness from Castlebar of some districts in the Achill area, I propose to ask the local authority to examine the possibility of stationing an ambulance at a more convenient base.
