Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Milk.

5.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will increase the price paid to farmers for milk, both milk destined for liquid consumption and that for manufacture.

6.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what he proposes to do about the price of milk at the creamery in view of the dissatisfaction of the dairy farmers.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 5 and 6 together.

It is an annual exercise for the Government to consider the price payable to milk producers between now and Budget time. When this has been done, an announcement will be made.

Can the Minister let us know when such an announcement is likely to be made?

I cannot give that information.
