Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mobile Ice Cream Vendors.

141.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice whether any complaints have been made to the Garda Síochána about the sale of soft ice cream from vans on streets in Dublin City by persons and firms who do not hold street traders' licences; and what action has been taken in the matter.

A complaint of this nature was made to the Gardaí by Dublin Corporation in June, 1963, and the attention of the Force was directed thereto.

Since then, eleven persons have been prosecuted for offences against the Street Trading Act, 1926, and prosecutions have also been taken against two firms for aiding and abetting. Seven of these cases have not yet been disposed of.
