Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Rules for Pedestrians.

152.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will request the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána to make regulations to ensure that, in future, pedestrians, in the interests of their own safety, will walk on the right-hand side of the road.

I am informed that a proposal on those lines is under consideration by the Commissioner, Garda Síochána, in connection with new general traffic bye-laws now being drafted. The decision as to whether the bye-laws should include such a provision will rest with the Minister for Local Government.
