Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Irish Products Abroad.

19.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether Córas Tráchtála or other State or semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department engaged in expanding the sale of Irish products abroad have the approval of the Government to sell in countries behind the so-called Iron Curtain.

Substantial quantities of goods are imported from Iron Curtain countries, and it is desirable that these countries should import an equivalent amount of goods from us. It was with this in view that the Oireachtas enacted the Restriction of Imports Act, 1962; and the promotional activities of Córas Tráchtála are so directed.
